Run Melbourne

Sunday, 24 July 2016

Run Melbourne has come and gone for 2016, but there’s still time to donate!

On Sunday 24 July, Team St Vincent’s gathered in Federation Square and braved the cold set out to Run Melbourne. Joining thousands of other participants, Team St Vincent’s pushed for personal bests in the 5km event, soaking up the morning sun and finishing in record times. Thank you to all participants and supporters that joined us on the day – we hope you all had a wonderful time! So far, Team St Vincent’s have fundraised over $5,000 for the hospital! Congratulations to all those involved in fundraising, this is a fantastic effort so far! But, we don’t want it to stop there…

Meet one of our fantastic participants, Claire Tarr (pictured right), a patient at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, and a strong advocate for our 2016 Run Melbourne fundraising campaign. Claire is being treated for Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (IPAH), a rare, progressive and unfortunately deadly disease affecting the heart, lungs and arteries. This year, Claire chose to Run Melbourne in order to raise funds towards IPAH research here at St Vincent’s.

Claire has set her sights high, hoping to raise in excess of $10,000.  And although the event is over, she’s still determined to reach this goal. And there’s still time for you to show your support. Donate to her cause now. https://runmelbourne2016.everydayhero.com/au/Claire-pah-let-s-find-a-cure

Claire, thrilled to have received so much support for her cause, expressed her joy in being involved in such a wonderful community fundraising event, and was so proud to have completed the course alongside her closest friends and family. So, thank you once again to everyone that showed up in support of her and Team St Vincent’s. We look forward to seeing many of you again next year.

If you are interested in being involved in the event next year, please check back here again shortly, as details of next year’s event will be posted soon.
