In 1965, during the Vietnam War, the first team of dedicated surgeons and nurses from St Vincent’s went to Long Xuyen Hospital in Vietnam’s An Giang Province to support the local community.

We invite you to hear of this little known story, which has been recognised at the Australian War Memorial. Pat Kennedy who was the Tutor Nurse in the team, helped train the locals in their medical knowledge. She is able to join us and share many stories from this time of upheaval. A photograph and memorabilia display will be provided by Pat and SVHM Archives & Heritage Centre.

If you love history and want to learn more, then please join us (guests are welcome) for morning tea and discussion of the fascinating role that St Vincent’s played during this time.
