From St Vincent’s to Vietnam

30 Oct 2019

In 1965, during the Vietnam War, the first team of dedicated surgeons and nurses from St Vincent’s went to Long Xuyen Hospital in Vietnam’s An Giang Province to support the local community.

Pat Kennedy was the Tutor Nurse in the team. She helped train the locals in their medical knowledge. She shared her fond memories and many stories about the fascinating role that St Vincent’s played during this time at a presentation at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

People travelled from as far as Shepparton and Colac to attend the presentation.

Pat has also written a book about her experiences entitled From Victoria to Vietnam.
