International Nurses Day

08 May 2020

International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on 12 May, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Each year we celebrate this day to show appreciation for the compassion, dedication, hard work and commitment of our incredible nursing teams.

In 2020, not only are we celebrating this special day, the World Health Organisation has officially declared 2020 ‘The Year of the Nurse and the Midwife’.  And now, the COVID-19 crisis has drawn into sharp focus the importance and extraordinary contribution that the entire healthcare workforce provide our community, locally and globally.

We value the positive difference our nurses make in the lives of our patients on a daily basis and acknowledge the huge impact they have on our patients, their carers and families.

Nurses and midwives really are our unsung heroes. We cannot overstate the impact the nurses have on our ability to provide exceptional care to the community.

On behalf of The Foundation, we thank our nurses for the exceptional care they offer patients and families, each and every day.
