The Sisterhood Gala does it again!

07 Jun 2023

The 10th anniversary of the Sisterhood of St Vincent’s Lunchtime Gala was simply the best!

DJ Jess, speed painter Brad Blaze and harpist Emily Rosner entertained and created something special for this year’s event.

There was an incredible vibe at this year’s event. The room was literally buzzing, especially when DJ Jess spun The Nutbush, bringing everyone to their feet!

We want to thank everyone who attended and generously gave towards helping us create a special fund to support women experiencing hardship, The Sisterhood Support Fund. The new fund will ensure that up to 1,000 at risk patients a year can receive clothes, a supply of healthy food, or other essentials.

Yvonne Bonomo, Director of Addiction Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne said, “Around one in 20 Australians has an addiction or substance abuse problem. There are so many examples of how much need there is in the community.

“When it’s been a small item, the desperation has been so great that team members have funded it out of their own pocket. So, having a fund where we can purchase things for our people to help them become their best selves will be enormously beneficial. Thank you, you’re all angels.”

A total of $50,000 was raised through the sale of raffle tickets and the live auction. The funds will enable St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne’s Mental Health and Addiction Medicine team to support their clients.

“This is a wonderful outcome and I am proud of everyone who made this possible,” Sue Parkes, CEO St Vincent’s Foundation.

Our target is $80,000You can still help.

We encourage Sisterhood event attendees to take part in the survey. It will take about 5 minutes to complete, and your responses are anonymous. Your entry will put you in the draw to win a copy of Vegies, a new cookbook by Matt Wilkinson, Culinary Director at Montalto Winery on the Mornington Peninsula.
