The spirit of giving

10 Dec 2020

The Mission teams at St Vincent’s public and private hospitals, along with staff and families, share the spirit of giving by donating gifts and vouchers. These are then distributed to local community organisations for people in need in the lead up to Christmas.

One particularly generous staff member is Sammi, a nurse at St Vincent’s Private Kew. She has created a beautiful Christmas tradition with her family. Each year, they purchase ten backpacks. Sammi’s children, Jaxyn and Makenzy, fill each one with thoughtful new goodies – a warm rug, toiletries, a pen and notebook, a water bottle, hand sanitiser, toothbrush and toothpaste and some fresh Christmas cake.

The backpacks were delivered to The Wellington who care for hundreds of people in the Collingwood high-rise flats with social support and material aid all year. They were overwhelmed by such thoughtful generosity that made a significant difference to people in need at Christmas.
