Think about your heart this Valentine’s Day

27 Jan 2020

As well as being Valentine’s Day, today is also the 'Day of Hearts' – a special day where everyone is reminded to love and take care of their heart.

Each year around 57,000 Australians suffer a heart attack. This equates to one heart attack every 10 minutes!

Did you know St Vincent's has a dedicated Heart Centre?

The Heart Centre brings together clinical care, education, research and preventative health under one roof. The new state-of-the-art facility is a 'one stop shop' providing direct access to our world renowned cardiologists for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases focusing on the individual needs of the patient.

St Vincent’s Head of Cardiology, Associate Professor Andrew MacIsaac recommends both men and women over 45 get a heart-health check with their doctor. These checks will be free for all at-risk Australians.

It’s so important to recognise the signs and symptoms and act straight away!
