Werribee locals make a difference to their community

24 Nov 2022

Werribee is a very special place for long-term residents Adrian and Amanda Williams. They were born and raised there and both their parents still live in the homes where Adrian and Amanda grew up. After meeting through mutual friends, they married in 2003 and are now raising two beautiful children, Ella (15) and Thomas (11). Together, they run Godings with two branches located in Rockbank and Geelong.

Adrian and Amanda were thrilled when St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee opened its doors in 2018. As one of Australia’s fastest growing population regions, the arrival of a quality, highly-respected hospital meant convenient, local access to top health care not only for them, but also for their family and friends.

Amanda said, “We hope we don’t have to use it but unexpected things do happen in life. And if our family or friends need health care, it’s so great to not have to travel into the city.”

Adrian chose to take an active role with St Vincent’s, volunteering on the Hospital’s Fundraising Committee in 2019. He said he was inspired to get involved because he felt it was important to support and help grow this exciting and important addition to the region. “I really wanted to contribute to the Hospital’s success. It’s easy to say you want services to come to Werribee but the community needs to get behind it. One of the key roles of the Committee is to help it become known as the place to go to receive exceptional health care. Ultimately, we want to see the hospital thrive.

Staying true to their vision, Adrian and Amanda have generously donated to St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee. Their most recent pledge was towards the refurbishment of the Day Oncology Unit. The growing demand for oncology services means the current unit at St Vincent’s Werribee needs to undergo an expansion to respond to the increased demand.

Adrian and Amanda’s substantial donation was announced at the Italian Sports Club of Werribee Winter Gala held in July 2022. This impressive gesture spurred an outpouring of support, resulting in a record-breaking amount of $100,000 raised at the event.

Adrian had to personally access treatment at St Vincent’s Werribee after a fall in 2020 that required steel plates to be inserted into his arm. Not only was he impressed with the excellent care he received, but he was delighted that he could access treatment just a few minutes from home.

Amanda’s dad stayed at the Hospital to access rehab services while he was recovering from surgery. “Having him close by meant we could drop off anything he needed and my mum could visit without having to travel into the city, which was so great,” Amanda said.

For Adrian and Amanda, supporting St Vincent’s Werribee was a really easy decision. It was a no-brainer for us to give back to the community we love.

“Supporting St Vincent’s Werribee is like an insurance policy for your future health and your family’s health. You never know when you’re going to need their services,” Amanda said.
