The Sisterhood

Sisterhood Support Fund

For women and girls experiencing hardship, their personal funds do not always stretch to cover basic necessities: healthy food, underwear and clothing, personal hygiene products, other essentials. The basics we take for granted can be out of reach for many people in our community. Every day, Dr Yvonne Bonomo and her team of specialists at St Vincent’s support people with addiction and mental health issues. Every day, they see the impacts of poverty, violence, homelessness and poor health on individuals in our community. Every day, they witness people living without basic necessities and without the resources to get by.

The Sisterhood Support Fund will assist Dr Bonomo and her team to support those in their care. Through the Sisterhood Support Fund, important basic necessities will be funded to ensure that up to 1,000 patients a year can return to their lives with a bag of clothes, a supply of healthy food, or other essentials.

The impact of the Sisterhood Support Fund is significant. Through the purchase of basic supplies, women and girls are better able to address their own health issues and support positive treatment outcomes. They can walk down the street with dignity, go to work or to study, see their friends and families, eat a healthy meal or receive other essential support that gives them a positive outlook and a way forward. The Sisterhood  Support Fund will help with simple needs that support recovery and good health.
