A Heartfelt Birthday Appeal for St Vincent's Hospital

Dear Friends,

As we gather to celebrate my 70th, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible people in my life, YOU, all who make every moment brighter. I would like to mark the occasion with something even more meaningful: a collective act of kindness in donating to St Vincent's, a place that has held a special spot in my heart.

For more than 20 years, I've been a major donor to St Vincent's, supporting its mission to deliver compassionate, world-class care right here in Melbourne servicing patients from metro and Victorian country areas and even Tasmania. In return, they've been inviting me to inspiring seminars and keeping me at the forefront of their ground-breaking medical advancements. I have inspected their new Radiation Oncology Centre, recently completed East Tower Extension and the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD).

What truly captivates me, though, is the hospital's remarkable 170-year history of excellence, particularly its unwavering commitment to nurse training. From its founding in 1857 by the Sisters of Charity, St Vincent's has never wavered in nurturing the next generation of healthcare heroes, ensuring that skilled, empathetic nurses continue to light the way for patients in their darkest hours.

I've been especially proud to channel my support into funding scholarships for specialist nurses pursuing further tertiary education. These opportunities allow them to hone their expertise, whether in oncology, cardiology, or critical care - and bring cutting-edge knowledge back to the hospital, directly upskilling their nurses in training and improving patient care for thousands in our community.
