Valerie Joan Magee (nee Henshaw) 1937-2021
Val trained as a nurse at St Vincent's in the 1950s, and enjoyed a long and distinguished nursing career spanning five decades, including many years as the much-loved Charge Nurse of Ward 14 at Caulfield Hospital, all the while working full-time raising her family of five children with husband Mick.
Following Val's battle with Alzheimer's over the last few years of her life, we thought it fitting to set up this page for anyone wishing to make a donation in her memory and help to further support and advancement in dementia-related services.
We have chosen the St Vincent's Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service to be the recipients of these donations and are truly grateful for any contribution you care to make in helping to make a difference in the lives of others.
Thank you,
The Magee family

To the best Nurse and mum a daughter could ever possibly want ..we will miss you dearly. When I fell down you'd be there holding me up Spread your wings as you go And when God takes you back we'll say Hallelujah You're home ...(words from Ed Sheeran’s song - Supermarket Flowers) . God Bless you mum you’re at peace now. XxxI hope they find a cure for Alzheimer’s one day it’s an insidious disease.

In loving memory of our devoted mother, whose kindness and compassion touched the lives of so many over her lifetime. Mum radiated joy wherever she went, from the halls of Caulfield Hospital to her favourite shopping centre, The Glen, and amongst her many family and friends whom she always made to feel so special. Like her mother and eldest sister before her, mum was taken from us too soon by Alzheimer’s - our wish is to help find a cure so others don’t suffer from the prolonged grief of this cruel disease. Mum, you are forever in our hearts and your legacy lives on in your children and grandchildren, and our knowledge of what a wonderful person you were. May there be more like you in the world xxx
