Les Mezzalira was a volunteer at St Vincent's for 18 years. He volunteered in two different areas: The Green Shop and Emergency Department.
He loved his volunteer role so much he would turn up at dawn to start his shift!
His role, in The Emergency Department, consisted of preparing forms. He took his role seriously, ensuring forms were of the highest standard.
Dad would somehow know of any Italian person admitted to St Vincent's and would go visit and sit with them.
Dad was very proud to work at St Vincent's and encouraged my brother and I to visit so he could introduce us to his colleagues and show us the quality of the forms he had prepared.
Dad was very sad when he retired and would turn up to his shift, anyway!
