Understanding Palliative Care
Presentation Summary: Palliative care aims to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family of a person with a life-limiting or terminal illness. But what is palliative care? How does it differ from other types of care? Who is it for? Who is in the palliative care team?
A/Prof Mark Boughey, Director of Palliative Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital will answer all these questions and more, to help you to discover how palliative care could help you and your loved ones, should you need to access it in the future.
Presented by: Associate Professor Mark Boughey, Director of Palliative Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital and Co-Deputy Director of the Centre for Palliative Care. Mark is also Chair & Clinical Lead for Safer Care Victoria’s Palliative Care Clinical Network and sits on Clinical Council of Victoria. He is involved in the International Collaborative for Best Care of the Dying Person, and Chairs both the Renal Supportive Care Pathway Working Group and the Victorian Aboriginal Palliative Care Collaborative.

Caritas Christi Redevelopment Update
Presentation Summary: A brief update on the building redevelopment of Caritas Christi Hospice in Kew.
Presented by: Andrew Crettenden, Project Director, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. Andrew has been with St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne for over 13 years. He was the Executive Director Planning and Government Relations for over ten years. His current role is Project Director for both the ACMD and Caritas Christi Hospice projects.
