The Thomas Trauer Fund - Supporting the Development of Mental Health Services in the Asia Pacific Region.

The Thomas Trauer Fund was established to support the development of mental health services in the Asia Pacific. Thanks to the incredible generosity and philanthropic vision of Thomas Trauer, more than 22 projects have been fully funded since 2015.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of the Trauer Family, the Fund will support an exciting new initiative in 2025: A Pacific Mental Health Nursing Community of Practice. This project is designed to provide much-needed education, mentoring, and professional development for mental health nurses working in Pacific health settings.

The Community of Practice will offer rare and valuable opportunities for nurses to build their skills, collaborate with peers, and break down professional silos. Through networking forums and enhanced digital health capabilities, the project will promote the sharing of knowledge - particularly vital for nurses in rural and remote areas - by fostering online collaboration and professional connections.

In partnership with St Vincent’s clinical education team, participating nurses will help deliver ongoing professional development to at least 50 colleagues across Kiribati, Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea.
